Kenneth M. Tomaszewski, a 24-year-old male of Polish-American ethnicity, was a Deputy Sheriff with the Lorain County Sheriff's Department in Ohio. On July 3, 1979, he was tragically shot and killed by a juvenile suspect following a routine traffic stop. The incident occurred when Deputy Tomaszewski pulled over a 15-year-old for a traffic violation. The youth could not provide proof of vehicle registration, prompting Deputy Tomaszewski to follow him to his home to verify the registration.
