On a tragic Friday morning in the village of Addison, New York, a domestic dispute escalated into a shocking act of violence that claimed the life of 41-year-old Tomas Venegas. The events of June 20, 2025, unfolded at a residence on Academy Street, forever altering the lives of those involved.
State Police responded to reports of a shooting and discovered that Tomas Venegas had been fatally shot. The investigation revealed a grim narrative of a conflict gone horribly wrong. Authorities identified 45-year-old Ryan L. Chase of Addison as the individual who, after a dispute involving his estranged wife, 43-year-old Angelina M. Barney-Chase, and Venegas, her partner, left the residence only to return a short time later armed and dangerous. It was then that Chase allegedly shot and killed Venegas.
The violence did not end there. After fleeing the scene in a vehicle, Chase crashed near Wall Street. His body was later discovered by troopers in a wooded area nearby. The cause of his death was determined to be an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Angelina Barney-Chase was not physically harmed during the incident.
