Summary based on 11 sources
Tyriiq Isaiah Aaron Seward, a 19-year-old male, was tragically shot and killed on Memorial Day, May 31, 2021, in his former hometown of Spring Valley, New York. He had moved to Mauldin, South Carolina, with his mother three years prior and was set to graduate from Mauldin High School. Seward was visiting Spring Valley to film a music video.

On the evening of his death, at approximately 9:50 p.m., an officer on patrol near Crispus Attucks Road heard multiple gunshots. Police responding to the scene discovered Seward in the roadway on Rose Avenue, having sustained several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Seward was reportedly walking from the location of his music video shoot when he was gunned down.

In the wake of the shooting, Seward's family described him as a kindhearted young man who loved basketball and music. He was the youngest of six children and was a cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews. His mother, Sharon Seward, was hospitalized following her son's death. A GoFundMe campaign was established to assist his family with funeral expenses.

For a time, the shooter remained unidentified, and the New York State Crime Stoppers offered a cash reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. An arrest was later made in connection with the killing. Jack Ramirez, a 22-year-old from Spring Valley, was arrested in February of the following year. Ramirez pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter, one for the death of Tyriiq Seward and another for a separate fatal shooting that occurred in January 2020. He was subsequently sentenced to 20 years in prison.
