On a winter afternoon in Rochester, New York, 53-year-old Eric Caster was walking to a nearby library on Saturday, December 27, 2014. As he made his way down Herald Street, his path was tragically interrupted. In an act of violence, Mr. Caster was shot in the stomach. Despite his grievous injury, he managed to flag down a police officer, telling them he couldn't breathe before he collapsed.
