On the night of July 13, 2025, William Blakney, a 22-year-old male from Brooklyn, was shot outside the Kingsborough Houses in Crown Heights. Responding to a 9:36 p.m. 911 call reporting an assault in progress at 253 Kingsborough 2nd Walk, officers found him on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head.
