When the echo of the shot faded, 19-year-old Ramone Ortiz was left with a fatal gunshot wound to his chest. It was just before 4 a.m. on October 12, 2017, when police responded to a call of a shooting and discovered the young man behind a building on Bond Street. Paramedics rushed him to Brooklyn Hospital, but his life could not be saved.
Ortiz was a resident of the very housing project where his life was tragically cut short, living just around the corner from where he was found.
