In the late afternoon of a summer day in Downtown Brooklyn, tragedy struck 32-year-old Clyde Ricks. On Friday, August 1, 2025, at approximately 5:34 p.m., the Queens resident was found in front of a Mexican restaurant located at 391 Jay Street, between Fulton and Willoughby streets, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound to his torso.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene and transported Ricks in critical condition to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
At the time of the incident, law enforcement had not made any arrests, and the investigation into the shooting remains active. Authorities have indicated they are searching for a male suspect with dreadlocks who was reportedly seen leaving the area. He was described as wearing a dark-colored baseball cap, dark jeans, and white sneakers while carrying a backpack. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
