On June 10, 2025, Carrie Lotasha Fields, age 33, a Black woman from Jackson, was found shot to death inside a home on Jayne Avenue. Officers with the Jackson Police Department responded in the early morning hours, and Hinds County Coroner Jeramiah Howard later identified Carrie Lotasha Fields, age 33, as the victim. The scene was in the 3600 block of Jayne Avenue, a quiet residential stretch that awoke to sirens and tape as detectives began their work.
