On the morning of August 12, 2025, a violent confrontation unfolded in the Penrose neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, resulting in the death of 41-year-old male Andre Jackson. Police officers from District 6 responded to a call regarding a shooting in the 4900 block of San Francisco Avenue just after 7:00 a.m. Upon their arrival at the scene, they discovered Jackson suffering from a gunshot wound.
First responders transported him to a local hospital for emergency treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
The subsequent homicide investigation revealed that the shooting stemmed from a robbery attempt gone wrong. Detectives determined that Jackson, accompanied by a 39-year-old accomplice, had targeted a victim on San Francisco Avenue. During the commission of the attempted robbery, the targeted individual produced a firearm and fired shots in self-defense, striking Jackson. The accomplice fled the scene following the gunfire, leaving Jackson wounded.
Law enforcement identified the surviving suspect through their investigation and took him into custody on August 29, 2025. The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and issued multiple felony charges against the 39-year-old man in connection with Jackson's death. Even though he did not fire the fatal shot, the accomplice was charged with murder in the second degree, likely under statutes that hold participants in a felony liable for deaths that occur during the crime. In addition to the murder charge, he faced counts of attempted robbery in the first degree, unlawful possession of a firearm, and two counts of armed criminal action.
