On the evening of July 29, 2025, in Canton, Mississippi, the life of 46-year-old John Montgomery III was brought to a tragic and violent end. A Black/African American male, Montgomery was discovered in a yard along Hudson Road, just off Highway 16, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. The Madison County Sheriff's Department received a call at approximately 7:40 p.m. and, upon arrival, deputies pronounced him dead at the scene.
