In the spring of 2025, a single gunshot shattered the afternoon quiet at the Canterbury House Apartments in Oshtemo Township, Michigan, leaving a young family heartbroken and a community on edge. Dequevion Markuise Brown, a 29-year-old Black male from Kalamazoo, was fatally wounded on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, in what authorities have described as a brazen act of violence.
