On the evening of December 8, 2024, at approximately 8:42 p.m., Anaheim Police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 2000 block of South Margie Lane, a residential neighborhood near Disneyland Resort. Upon arrival, they discovered 25-year-old Anaheim resident Kenneth Wayne Swets unresponsive inside a parked vehicle, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Despite prompt attention from the Orange County Fire Authority, Swets was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the days following the incident, Anaheim Police homicide detectives conducted an intensive investigation, leading to the identification of two suspects. On December 11, 2024, authorities arrested 41-year-old Corona resident Rashaadd Eugene Royal and 51-year-old Moreno Valley resident Jennifer Camacho Mandap in connection with Swets' death. Investigators revealed that Royal was acquainted with the victim, though specific details regarding the motive and circumstances remain undisclosed as the investigation is ongoing.
Both Royal and Mandap have been charged with murder in the killing of Kenneth Swets. Royal faces an additional sentencing enhancement for the discharge of a firearm causing death.
