Gregory Doyle Sweeten, 35, a Black male from Minneapolis, was killed in a midday burst of rifle fire on August 26, 2025, on the sidewalk near East 29th Street and Clinton Avenue, across from Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in the Phillips neighborhood. According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, he died at the scene of a rifle wound to the head, and his death was ruled a homicide.
