Daishawn Darnell Sykes, 26, Black/African American male, was shot on the evening of August 26, 2025, in south Minneapolis and died that night at Hennepin Healthcare at 8:48 p.m. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the cause of death as a gunshot wound of the abdomen and ruled the manner of death a homicide. The injury location was listed as 2731 3rd Avenue South in Minneapolis.
