In the summer of 2025, the city of Detroit mourned the loss of Daniel Avery, a 27-year-old male rapper who was carving out a name for himself in the music world as 'Bandgang Boom' and 'TheGodFather.' On a Monday evening in August, what should have been a time of remembrance at a post-funeral gathering turned into a scene of violence and tragedy. Avery, along with others, was at Latham Playground on Seneca Street on the city's east side when the unthinkable happened.
