Kionyah Shorts, 17, female, Black/African American, was shot just after midnight on August 10, 2025, in New Orleans’ Central City neighborhood. Police were called at 12:01 a.m. to the 2600 block of Jackson Avenue, where Kionyah Shorts, 17, female, was pronounced dead at the scene, and another woman was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening.
