Etiennie Boakye, a 17-year-old Black male, was killed in Monroe, Georgia, on May 6, 2025. Just after 1 a.m., Monroe police responded to Lacy Street, where they found Boakye wounded; despite efforts to save him, he died at the scene. A second shooting victim, 23-year-old Jazaire Burgess of Monroe, was located shortly afterward at Pine Park Street and Knight Street and was taken to an Atlanta-area hospital in critical condition.
