In the afternoon hours of September 9, 2025, the life of 26-year-old Deonaye Johnson was tragically cut short on the streets of Baltimore, Maryland. A ShotSpotter alert drew police to the 1000 block of North Arlington Avenue at approximately 3:09 p.m., where they discovered Johnson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced deceased by the medical staff.
The investigation into
the daylight shooting continued for over a month. Then, on Sunday, October 12, 2025, detectives with the Baltimore Police Department made an arrest in connection with Johnson's death. Timothy Shearn, a 26-year-old man, was taken into custody without incident in the 1800 block of West Franklin Street.
Following his arrest, Shearn was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility. He has since been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Deonaye Johnson. While an arrest has been made, the police have not yet released a possible motive for the shooting. The investigation is reportedly ongoing.
