In the late afternoon of May 31, 2025, a sense of unease settled over a home on Barton Road in Royston, Georgia. It was there that 34-year-old Breiana Danielle Johnson, a female, was found with a fatal gunshot wound. Emergency responders were called to the scene around 4:49 p.m., but their efforts were in vain, and she was pronounced dead. Breiana, born in Athens, was a creative soul, known as a tattoo artist, musician, and artist who played the guitar.
She was a mother to a son and a beloved daughter and sibling.
The investigation into her death quickly pointed to a suspect, leading authorities on a multi-state search. Investigators identified 26-year-old Greata Nichole Thomas, who also went by the name Greata Nichole Mobley, as the individual wanted in connection with the shooting. Law enforcement warned the public that Thomas was considered armed and dangerous. The search intensified when her 2008 gray Honda Accord, bearing an Alabama license plate, was discovered abandoned in Iva, South Carolina, the day after the shooting. The multi-agency manhunt came to an end late on Sunday, June 1, 2025, when Thomas was located and taken into custody in Abbeville County, South Carolina.
Following her arrest, Greata Nichole Mobley was extradited back to Hart County, Georgia, to face the legal consequences of her alleged actions. Initially denied bond, she was indicted by a Hart County grand jury on August 19, 2025. The indictment included a list of serious charges: one count of Malice Murder, two counts of Felony Murder, one count of Aggravated Assault, one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and one count of Tampering With Evidence. As the legal process began to unfold, with an arraignment scheduled for September, Mobley remained held in the Hart County Detention Center. The motive and the precise circumstances that led to the tragic shooting remained under investigation.
