In the late hours of a Saturday in September 2025, a large gathering of over 150 people on Poland Street in the Allendale neighborhood of Shreveport, Louisiana, was shattered by gunfire. When the chaos subsided, 44-year-old Johnny Ray Robinson, a local husband, father, and business owner, was found among the victims. He, along with 41-year-old Jonathan Green, had been fatally shot.
The violent outburst also left six other individuals wounded, painting a grim picture of a targeted attack.
Investigators quickly determined that multiple shooters were involved, suggesting a coordinated effort to inflict harm. The Shreveport police were caught off guard by the large event, the purpose of which remained unclear to them. In the days following the tragic shooting, the community mourned the loss of Robinson, remembered by his family as a loving and caring man who was a pillar of their lives. His family expressed their devastation, emphasizing what a helpful person he was to both family and strangers alike.
As the investigation progressed, authorities identified a suspect in the mass shooting. An arrest warrant was issued for 21-year-old Rissan Smith Jr. on a charge of attempted second-degree murder, with police indicating that more charges were likely as the investigation continued. Detectives believe Smith has gang connections and did not hesitate to use a firearm. Described as armed and dangerous, the public was warned not to approach him. Law enforcement also stated their belief that additional suspects were involved, and they anticipated further arrests and charges in connection with the deadly incident that cut short the life of Johnny Ray Robinson. A visitation for Mr. Robinson was scheduled for Friday, January 9, 2026, at New Bethel Baptist Church in Shreveport, with his funeral service to be held the following day at Fairview Baptist Church in Elm Grove.
