In the early hours of June 1, 2025, police converged on the Azalea Ridge Apartments in the 1400 block of Boxwood Boulevard in Columbus, Georgia, where Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the victim as 24-year-old Rownee Ortiz-Ocasio. Investigators with the Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit began a death investigation at the scene, and the coroner arranged for the body of Rownee Ortiz-Ocasio to be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for autopsy.
