A gathering of over 150 people in Shreveport’s Allendale neighborhood turned tragic in the early morning hours of September 20, 2025, when a mass shooting erupted, leaving two men dead and six other individuals wounded. One of the deceased was identified as 41-year-old Johnathan Green, a male resident of the city. The other victim was 44-year-old Johnny Ray Robinson.
The shooting took place at an event on Poland Street.
According to authorities, the hail of bullets that claimed the lives of Green and Robinson was not a random act of violence. Investigators believe that the victims were specifically targeted. The Shreveport Police Department has indicated that multiple shooters were involved in the incident, escalating the chaos and the deadly outcome of the attack. The event, which had drawn a large crowd, was not officially known to the police department beforehand.
In the aftermath of the deadly shooting, law enforcement officials began the intensive process of identifying those responsible. Their investigation led them to identify 21-year-old Rissan Smith Jr. as a suspect in the mass shooting. A warrant has been issued for his arrest on the charge of attempted second-degree murder, though it is anticipated that additional charges will be filed as the investigation progresses.
Authorities have cautioned that Smith is to be considered armed and dangerous and have urged the public not to approach him. Detectives have reason to believe that Smith may have ties to local gangs. The Shreveport Police Department also believes that other individuals were involved in the shooting, and they expect to make further arrests and lay more charges as more evidence comes to light.
