Joshua Rene’ Bester, 23, a Black male, died after he was shot in downtown New Orleans in the early minutes of Sunday, September 28, 2025. Officers were dispatched around 12:22 a.m. to the 300 block of Loyola Avenue in the Eighth District, where they found him suffering from a gunshot wound; he was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead. The Orleans Parish Coroner subsequently identified the victim as Joshua Bester, confirming his age.
