In the afternoon hours of July 9, 2025, in New Orleans, 34-year-old Armand Jude Williams was shot multiple times in the 8000 block of Trapier Street. Emergency services were called to the location at approximately 4:17 p.m. Upon their arrival, Seventh District officers discovered Williams suffering from gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital by EMS, but he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's office later officially
identified the victim as Armand Williams. Born on September 26, 1990, in New Orleans, he was a father to one son, Adolph Williams. His family included his parents, Lisa Williams and Armand Labranch, along with several brothers and sisters.
Homicide detectives for the New Orleans Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting. Through their work, they identified Joshua Stewart as the alleged perpetrator in the homicide. A warrant for Stewart's arrest on the charge of second-degree murder was issued on July 11, 2025. With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals, the NOPD arrested Stewart on July 16, 2025. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Orleans Justice Center and booked.
