In the early hours of July 5, 2025, the streets of downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana, became the scene of a tragedy that cut short the life of 16-year-old Si’Montre Anthony R’Chey Molargik, a Black male. Just after midnight, near the intersection of Columbia and Harrison Streets, an altercation between two groups of teenagers escalated into gunfire.
When police responded to calls about a problem in the area, they discovered a chaotic scene with four teenagers having been shot.
Si’Montre was found unresponsive at the scene and was quickly transported to a local hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Allen County Coroner's Office later confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound and officially ruled the manner of death a homicide. His death marked the 21st homicide in Fort Wayne and Allen County for the year 2025. The other three teenagers who were injured in the shooting were treated at a hospital and subsequently released.
The Fort Wayne Police Department's Homicide Unit immediately launched an exhaustive investigation into the quadruple shooting. Within a day, their efforts led to the identification of suspects. Investigators executed multiple search and arrest warrants. This resulted in the arrest of a 16-year-old male juvenile who was taken into custody on preliminary charges of murder, attempted murder, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Shortly after, a second suspect, 18-year-old Ni'Shawn Jackson, was also arrested. Jackson faced preliminary charges of attempted murder and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon. During the execution of a search warrant at a separate location, police recovered multiple firearms. Authorities emphasized that the investigation remained active and that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The case is being handled by the Fort Wayne Police Department in conjunction with the Allen County Prosecutor's Office.
