In the warm evening hours of July 3, 2025, a burst of violence shattered the holiday calm in Columbus, Georgia, claiming the life of 21-year-old Andre Thomas, a Black male also known as Z' Andre Hasson Thomas and Zandre Battle-Thomas. The fatal shooting occurred around 7:20 p.m. in the vicinity of Forrest and Avalon roads, marking another tragic event in a particularly violent holiday weekend for the city.
