Responding officers and paramedics found him with multiple gunshot wounds; he was taken to Saint Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The shooting unfolded around 2:01 a.m., and witnesses reported a burst of shots that left shell casings scattered near Paulina Street and Estes Avenue. Reporters at the scene also noted bullet holes in a nearby car window, underscoring the sudden violence of the attack.
Police said a male suspect approached on foot before firing repeatedly and fleeing into the night. Detectives from CPD's Area Three opened an investigation, and as of that day authorities reported no arrests and no one in custody.
