Cody Chavous, 33, a Black male, was found with multiple gunshot wounds around 6 p.m. on Friday, July 4, 2025, at an apartment complex on the 300 block of Concepts 21 Circle in the Mableton/Austell area of Cobb County. First responders rushed him to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where he was pronounced dead. Detectives notified his family as the investigation began to unfold over the holiday weekend.
