Lanya Amika Anderson, 19, a Black woman from Indianapolis, was found with a gunshot wound inside an apartment on the far east side of the city in the early hours of September 26, 2025. Police were called around 3:15–3:19 a.m. to the 10100 block of John Jay Drive at the Amber Woods apartments, where officers and medics rushed her to Eskenazi Hospital; she died shortly thereafter. The Marion County Coroner’s Office publicly identified her later that day.
