In the early morning hours of June 3, 2025, the quiet of a Birmingham, Alabama neighborhood was broken by a grim discovery. Andreika Robinson, a 34-year-old mother, was found unresponsive in the driveway of her home on Redstone Drive. A neighbor, who found her shortly after 6 a.m., saw blood coming from her head and was unsure if she was alive. Emergency services were called to the scene, but it was too late.
First responders pronounced her dead at 7:10 a.m.
The initial investigation by the Birmingham Police Department quickly turned into a homicide inquiry. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office confirmed that Robinson had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Investigators believe that she was shot while she was inside her vehicle. Her death marked the 34th homicide in the city of Birmingham and the 50th in Jefferson County for that year. The tragic event left a family grieving and a community searching for answers.
Later that same day, at approximately 2 p.m., the Birmingham police's Crime Reduction Team made a swift arrest in connection with the case. The suspect was identified as 35-year-old Jamarcus Liray Olive. He was taken into custody and held at the Birmingham City Jail under a 48-hour felony extension. By the following Wednesday, Olive was formally charged with capital murder. The capital murder charge was brought because Robinson was inside her vehicle when she was fatally shot. Olive is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail without bond. Authorities have not yet released a motive for the shooting as the investigation remains ongoing.
