In the late hours of a Wednesday evening in north Phoenix, the bustling Desert Ridge Marketplace became the backdrop for a tragedy. It was there, on June 18, 2025, that 39-year-old Jessica Shukers, a female, lost her life in a violent encounter. Police were called to the shopping center's parking lot near the AMC movie theater around 9:40 p.m. following reports of a shooting.
