In a quiet Phoenix, Arizona neighborhood, the lives of a young family were tragically cut short on January 22, 2023. Inside their home near 51st Avenue and Warner Street, police discovered the bodies of 27-year-old Asya Ribble and 28-year-old Cameron Brown. The female victim and her partner had both been fatally shot. Miraculously, their two young children were found unharmed within the residence.
The investigation quickly identified a suspect, 39-year-old Leroy Malone.
It was soon learned that Malone, accompanied by an adult female, had fled the state. Phoenix detectives promptly alerted law enforcement agencies nationwide, providing information about the suspect and the case. This led to a multi-state manhunt that came to a dramatic and violent end the following day in Kansas.
Deputies in Clark County, Kansas, acting on the information from Phoenix police, located Malone. A vehicle pursuit ensued, and upon stopping the vehicle in Dodge City, a shootout erupted between Malone and law enforcement. During the exchange of gunfire, Leroy Malone was shot and killed. The woman traveling with him was also struck by gunfire and was hospitalized with critical injuries. The confrontation also resulted in injuries to three deputies. Subsequent reports revealed that Malone had a previous criminal record, which included an aggravated assault charge involving Ribble.
