In the summer of 2025, the life of 25-year-old Effie Guajardo was tragically cut short in Little Rock, Arkansas. A graduate of McClellan High School and a devoted mother to her two children, Vincent LeRoy Guajardo and Jote Anastasia Peach Guajardo, Effie was known for her vibrant personality and generous heart. She worked at a Dollar General in the nearby city of Bryant.
On the night of Friday, July 18, 2025, events took a fatal turn.
Just before midnight, at 11:51 p.m., police were called to a residence at 1025 Brookside Drive following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival shortly after midnight on what was then July 19, officers encountered 26-year-old Cortez Price. Price was taken into custody without incident after he informed the officers that he had shot his girlfriend.
Officers then discovered Effie Guajardo on the back porch of the home. She was unresponsive, having sustained what appeared to be gunshot wounds, and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The incident was described by officials as being 'domestic in nature.'
Following the initial response, Homicide Detectives and the Crime Scene Search Unit began their investigation. The Pulaski County Coroner's office transported Effie's body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy. Cortez Price was taken to the Major Crimes Division for questioning and was subsequently charged with capital murder. The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing. Effie was remembered by her family and friends as a loving mother, daughter, and sister who would be deeply missed.
