Seven-year-old Chloe Alexander, a Black girl from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, was visiting Little Rock with her family for a fun day at the zoo on May 28, 2022. Her grandmother, Teneshia Fisher, later spoke for the family, expressing their deep desire for justice for the little girl who was full of life.
That Saturday morning, Chloe never made it to her destination. Around 11 a.m., as she traveled in a vehicle in the 700 block of Fair Park Boulevard near the zoo, she was struck by gunfire.
The shooting stemmed from what police described as an ongoing conflict between a suspect and another person who was in the car with Chloe. She was rushed to a local hospital but tragically died from her injuries.
The Little Rock Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide, asking the public for any information. As days passed, community activists with groups like Arkansas Stop the Violence gathered to condemn the killing and call for an end to the gun violence that had taken a child’s life. Police increased a reward to $25,000 for information that would lead to the capture of the person responsible.
On June 2, 2022, authorities arrested 18-year-old Kenjata Daniels Jr. of Little Rock in connection with Chloe’s death. He was taken into custody and charged with capital murder.
The case against Kenjata Daniels Jr. proceeded to trial, but a judge declared a mistrial in October 2025. The ruling came after the defense discovered that six statements from police officers had been unintentionally omitted from the initial homicide file provided by the state. Following a new trial, a Pulaski County jury found Daniels guilty of murder in June 2026 for the shooting death of Chloe Alexander.
