On what began as an ordinary Tuesday morning in Little Rock, Arkansas, a call to the police unfolded into a tragic discovery. On November 12, 2019, officers were dispatched to a residence at 2313 Nicholas Road in the western part of the city. A man named Montrell Burns had contacted authorities to report that he had found two women deceased inside the home.
When police arrived at approximately 10:48 a.m., they confirmed the grim report.
Inside the residence, they found the bodies of 38-year-old Mallida Curtice Webb of North Little Rock and 35-year-old Shameika Loraine Eason of Little Rock. Both women, who were Black/African American, had suffered apparent gunshot wounds. Other than several pets, which were taken in by Animal Services, the home was empty. The initial investigation into the double homicide began as authorities worked to piece together the events that led to the two women's deaths.
As detectives delved into the case, the man who had initially reported the deaths, Montrell Burns, became a person of interest. Through the course of their investigation, evidence led them to suspect Burns was responsible for the killings. He was subsequently arrested and faced serious charges for his alleged involvement in the deaths of the two women.
Following his arrest, Montrell Burns was charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He was then incarcerated at the Pulaski County Jail. While an arrest was made, the investigation continued as authorities gathered more evidence from the scene and awaited the official autopsy results from the Arkansas State Crime Lab to provide further clarity on the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Mallida Webb and Shameika Eason.
