On a Sunday morning in Little Rock, Arkansas, the life of 27-year-old Eunice Lopez was tragically cut short in a violent encounter. The incident unfolded in the driveway of her home on Keats Drive, just before 10 a.m. Lopez was in the process of removing her young child from her car when she was approached.
A group of individuals attempted to rob her, grabbing for her purse. In the ensuing struggle, Lopez dropped her child to the ground.
One of the assailants then dragged her before fatally shooting her. She was quickly transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries about an hour later. The day of this tragic event was January 31, 2016, marking the fourth homicide in Little Rock for that year.
Initial investigations led police to a nearby home where they took four juveniles into custody after finding some of Lopez's stolen property and discarded clothing. However, these individuals were later released without being charged. The focus of the investigation then shifted to two primary suspects: 18-year-old Ramale Collier and 15-year-old Kevin Williams.
In a significant development, Collier turned himself in to the Little Rock Police Department. Subsequently, both Collier and the 15-year-old were arrested on suspicion of capital murder and other charges. A judge ordered both teenagers to be held without bond.
