In the late hours of a Sunday evening in east Birmingham, a personal dispute escalated into a fatal encounter for Demetrius Cortez Trannon. On June 22, 2025, the 34-year-old man was involved in a physical altercation in the 8000 block of Fifth Avenue South. The argument took a tragic turn around 11:25 p.m. when a shooting transpired.
