Demetrius Cortez Trannon, 34, a Black male from Birmingham, died just after midnight on June 22, 2025, following a shooting at a home in the 8000 block of 5th Avenue South in the city’s East Lake area. He was found on the front porch with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Birmingham police and initial local reports.
