In the late hours of a Wednesday night in Mobile, Alabama, a tragic event unfolded that would cut short the life of Michael Flores Sr.. On July 30, 2025, police and emergency services responded to a call regarding an assault at a residence on Calhoun Road. Inside, they discovered 55-year-old Michael Flores Sr., a Hispanic/Latino male, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away on July 31, 2025. Known affectionately as 'Pepe' to his friends and family, he was remembered for his big personality and unconditional love.
The investigation into the homicide moved swiftly. Within hours of the incident, Mobile homicide investigators identified a suspect. Cody Speese, a 19-year-old from the nearby community of Theodore, was taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting. Speese was subsequently charged with murder and booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail. While an arrest was made, a motive for the killing was not immediately released by the authorities, leaving a community to grapple with the sudden and violent loss of a man described as having a kind soul and being a pillar of support for those he cared about.
