In the heart of downtown Birmingham, on a summer evening, the life of 31-year-old Taevon Jamir Arnold was tragically cut short by gun violence. The shooting, which occurred on August 8, 2025, also left a woman injured. Arnold, a male remembered by his family as a loving and giving person who would always look out for others, was fatally wounded in a barrage of gunfire.
Within a day of the incident, authorities apprehended a suspect, Terrence Alexander.
The arrest brought a brief sense of relief to Arnold's grieving family. However, this solace was shattered when, due to a clerical error, Alexander was mistakenly released on bond just days after his arrest. This unforeseen turn of events left Arnold's family questioning the judicial process during their time of immense pain.
Authorities quickly worked to rectify the mistake, and Terrence Alexander was taken back into custody. A judge subsequently denied him bond under Aniah's Law. Alexander was already on probation for previous drug charges, and this new homicide charge resulted in the revocation of his probation.
