Robert Mitchell, a 41-year-old man from Birmingham, was shot on the night of August 29, 2025, in the city’s Central Pratt neighborhood, a violent moment that appears to have unfolded in and around a home on 6th Lane. Police were dispatched just after 10 p.m. to the 900 block, where they found him lying in a grassy area next to a residence with gunshot wounds. Officers began life-saving measures there at the scene, and Birmingham Fire and Rescue took over before he was rushed to UAB Hospital.
Despite those efforts, he was later pronounced dead, turning what began as a frantic emergency response into a homicide investigation.
