In the summer of 2018, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace of a Birmingham, Alabama neighborhood, leaving a family heartbroken and a community searching for answers. On July 24th of that year, 37-year-old Robert Atkins, a male resident of the city, was fatally wounded in what authorities would investigate as a possible drive-by shooting. The sudden and violent nature of his death sent ripples of shock and grief through those who knew him.
