On July 24, 2022, at approximately 12:15 a.m., 14-year-old Kamari Deshaun Adams was fatally struck by a vehicle involved in an illegal street race at the intersection of Bessemer Road and Avenue R in Birmingham, Alabama. Adams, a pedestrian at the scene, was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.
