John Jay Jackson, a 35-year-old white male and Catholic priest, was found murdered on May 15, 1981, in the rectory of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Jackson, Tennessee. He had been shot in the back of the head and neck, and his body was discovered face down in a room near a fireplace.
