Gregory Lawrence Becknell, an 18-year-old white male from Columbia, South Carolina, was murdered in September 1976. Born on November 6, 1957, Gregory was abducted alongside his girlfriend, 18-year-old Dorothy Ann Rhodes, by a man named John Edward Swindler. The abduction occurred shortly after Swindler had been released from Leavenworth prison in Kansas.
