Death by Force

Chance M. Brooks, 23, a Black male, was found with gunshot wounds outside a home on the 3400 block of Bellingham Road in Columbia late on the night of October 25, 2025. Officers were dispatched around 11:30 p.m., administered life-saving measures until EMS arrived, and Brooks was taken to a hospital, where he died. The Richland County Coroner later confirmed his identity as a Columbia resident and said her office would continue working with city police as the investigation proceeds.
