On a warm August evening in Columbia, South Carolina, the lives of two families were irrevocably shattered. Sixteen-year-old Terrence Merchant, a male with his future stretching before him, was with his 12-year-old friend, Courtney Dixon, outside of her home on T.S. Martin Drive on August 26, 2004.
