Death by Force

Mario Medina, a 65-year-old Hispanic man, was fatally shot on December 12, 2023, in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the 3500 block of West 61st Place just before 4:30 p.m. CST. Medina was standing outside with his grandson, 14-year-old Juan A. Medina Jr., when two gunmen inside a gray Kia Soul opened fire. The younger Medina died at the scene, while Mario Medina was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
