On February 3, 1997, 10-year-old Hispanic female Jessica Muniz was found dead alongside her mother, Yolanda Gutierrez, in their Chicago apartment. Firefighters responding to a blaze discovered their bodies on a burned bed. Investigators quickly determined the fire had been deliberately set using a liquid accelerant.
