Deshawn Thompson, a 20-year-old African American male, was tragically killed on May 8, 2016, in the West Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. On that fateful afternoon, Deshawn and a 19-year-old woman were sitting on a porch in the 200 block of South Karlov Avenue when an assailant approached and opened fire.
