Demyra S. Thornton, a 17-year-old African American girl, tragically lost her life on January 17, 2021, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side of Chicago. Authorities responded to a call around 4:20 a.m. and found Demyra with a gunshot wound to her chest inside a home on the 1200 block of South Kedvale Avenue.
